New brakes can cost different amounts depending on the work to your braking system needs and which parts are used. Your owner’s manual will have information on the type of brakes your vehicle requires, and a free Pep Boys brake inspection will diagnose what parts of the system need to be replaced. Pep Boys has a variety of different brake change options available to meet your needs and most of them include a manufacturer’s rebate as well.
An on-car brake lathe is a resurfacing tool that corrects DTV (Disc Thickness Variation), resulting in more even contact. This will reduce braking vibration and noise for a quieter and more comfortable ride.
Exchanging your vehicle’s brake fluid as specified by the manufacturer will help reduce the risk associated with contaminated brake fluid and allow you to avoid expensive brake repairs down the road. Clean brake fluid helps increase your stopping power and improves driver safety.
First, consult your vehicle owner’s manual. Some cars, trucks, and SUVs state a certain timeframe for brake fluid exchanges. Even if your car manufacturer doesn’t suggest brake fluid exchange intervals, there are signs that indicate it may need to be changed including a noticeable leak and/or a soft/spongy brake pedal.
