Automotive Technicians Keep America Moving
America is faced with a growing need for skilled automotive technicians. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that there will be nearly 69,000 job openings for automotive service technicians and mechanics each year, on average, over the next decade.* Pep Boys is dedicated to filling this industry-wide talent gap by enabling you to pursue a career as an automotive technician Further. Eligibility Requirements
- Be either accepted into school or currently enrolled as a full- or part-time student (at the time of application) in an accredited college, university or trade school within the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Be in pursuit of an automotive technician degree or certification.
- Have a 2.5 minimum high school cumulative grade point average; or, if already enrolled in an automotive technician program, have a 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average in the program.
- Submit most recent official transcript of all academic work.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a non-family member.
- Submit a typed essay or a video explaining “Why I want to be a top technician.” Include highlights on how you take ownership of your career, solve problems, learn new skills and act as a team player. All submissions should follow these guidelines:Typed essay should be a minimum of 500 words and a maximum of 1,000 words, double-spaced.

- Video submission should be no more than three minutes in length and should be submitted as a YouTube or Vimeo link.
Other Information:
- We ask that you are available to accept the award in-person on a specified date and in a specified location, if needed.
- Past recipients of Pep Boys’ Find Your Drive scholarships are welcome to re-apply.
- Current Pep Boys Team Members and children of current Team Members are eligible to apply.
- Proof of enrollment and GPA will be required to release award disbursements to scholarship recipients. Funds will be paid directly to the school where recipients are enrolled.
- Scholarship recipients will be eligible for preferred placement in the Pep Boys apprenticeship program and/or a full-time automotive technician position upon graduation.
