Spring Car Care Tips

Spring isn’t just for cleaning – it’s also a great time to check in on your car for preventive maintenance.

Check out our spring preventative maintenance checklist below:

Tire Rotation and Repair

Tires keep you safely on the road, so it’s crucial to perform a tire inspection once a month. Fortunately, a tire inspection only takes a few minutes! You can trouble shoot some potential problems by simply looking at them.

Check to see if the tires are overinflated, underinflated, or if your car is out of alignment. Did you change to winter tires? If so, now is the time to get your tires changed back to all-season tires. All-season tires are suitable for temperatures above 45 degrees.

Oil Changes & Fluid Levels

When was the last time you checked your car’s fluids? There’s no better time than the present! Check your fluid levels to make sure you have the required levels of oil, coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid and windshield washer fluids.

Keep in mind to never open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Inspect the hoses for any cracks or breaks and top off the coolant in your vehicle to help avoid getting stranded with an overheated engine. Low brake fluid is an indication of a brake issue and you should make an appointment to have your brakes checked.

Car Battery Performance Check

Your battery is one of the most important components of your vehicle. Though batteries can remain reliable for years, it’s important to regularly pop your hood and inspect your battery. Give it a once-over and look for any signs of corrosion.

If you’ve experienced strange symptoms or your battery is over three years old, bring your car in for a quick battery check to ensure that you don’t get blindsided while on the road.

Windshield Wipers

After removing snow and ice throughout the winter months, your windshield wipers effectiveness may be compromised. Keep your windshield clear of rain and debris this spring by purchasing new wiper blades at any of our locations. We will install them for free with any wiper blade purchase.

Lights

Headlights, turn signals, brakes, and parking lights – it’s important that all lights are working, but oftentimes it can be easy to overlook them.

On a monthly basis, turn on your lights and do a quick walk around your car, visually inspecting each light. Ask a friend or family member to stand behind the car as you press the brakes, ensuring each is emitting light.

Auto Air Conditioning Repair

As temperatures begin to rise, make sure your air conditioning is functioning properly. Turn the AC on at the max setting and check for cold air at the vents. If the air does not feel cold make an appointment for an AC check today. Be sure to turn on the defroster too which also engages the AC compressor and prevents mildew and cleans out excessive moisture.
